Its interiors are so beautifully decorated that one can feel the awe everywhere inside the church. It takes about 7 minutes from the main city to reach the church. The ringing bells are a treat to the ears. This beautiful masterpiece reflects the true cultural heritage of the country. So don’t miss out on this in Zakynthos.

Kerri-Pitch Springs:

Situated 14 Km southwest of the Zakynthos town, it is another must visit place in the city. Kerri is actually a village where the beautiful structure of the pitch spring is located. The spring is very old and has lost its productivity, but still retains its beauty and it has stood well the test of time. Even Today people love to watch!!

Blue Caves:

Another must visit place in the city, the Blue Caves consists of beautiful and of course mysterious inners. Catch the glimpse of the caves in the morning when the light is at its brightest. The refraction of light inside these caves creates a beautiful range of silver and brilliant blue tones. There are several boat trips and bus trips that can take you to the Blue Caves. You feel that one visit to these caves is not enough, so listen to our mind and visit these caves at least 3 to 4 times before you leave the city!!

Volimes:

 

The most scenic and picturesque town, Volimes is known for its beautiful caves and shipwreck site. The reason for the beauty of this town is the presence of country houses in traditional architecture. The church Agia Paraskevi is one of the interesting sites known for its magnificent icons and frescoes. You can have a beautiful view of Kefalonia Island from Volimes. The handcraft in Volimes is famous, so you can buy table cloths, centre pieces and Carpets for your home!

Byzantine Museum:

A must visit museum in the city, it has a rich collection of various ecclesiastical items, carved masterpieces, post-Byzantine icons screens, wooden artifacts, wood carvings dating back to the 16th century, reconstructed frescoes and more such items which will give you an idea about the history and culture of Zakynthos. It has also has a collection of wonderful historical items like collection of hagiographies from the Byzantine times to the 19th century, Hellenistic and Byzantine sculpture and statues and some beautiful icon-stands from the churches. Not only that it also has wooden artifacts, wall paintings and lots more to get thoroughly enjoyed. This museum is open all the days except on Mondays where there is a time restriction for visits.

Laganas Bay:

If you love beaches, then you shouldn’t miss this one. It is one of the most attractive tourist sites in Zakynthos. The only sad thing is that the turtle population here is dwindling day by day which was once very high. Laganas Bay is also well known as one of the most beautiful places entire Greece. It is also highly suitable for swimming and other recreational purposes. The clear, warm, shallow waters of the bay create ideal conditions for swimming.
